Creating Unique Logos for Scout Organizations
Building Character Through Logo Design: Pack 245
🌲 Crafted for the Outdoors. Designed for the Journey: a Keystone Specialties Inc. project.
Creating a logo for Cub Scout Pack 245 of Punxsutawney was a rewarding challenge. The goal was to design something that felt adventurous, rooted in nature, and true to the values of scouting—all while offering the pack a few distinct styles to choose from.
🧭 Design Process
For Cub Scout Pack 245 of Punxsutawney, I created a trio of logo concepts—each with its own distinct visual identity and a couple of color schemes per design to give the client options. They provided one reference image to guide the overall style, and from there, I built out three unique designs that reflect both the spirit of scouting and the character of their local community.
This project was entirely vector-based, designed in CorelDRAW. I sourced imagery from Adobe Stock to help shape the compositions, ensuring each logo felt fresh and tailored specifically to Punxsutawney’s Pack.
Each design incorporated the official Cub Scouts logo and the motto:
“Building Courage, Confidence and Character.”
~ The first logo featured a wolf icon—symbolic of the Cub Scouts—set against a backdrop of pine trees, mountains, and a winding stream.
~ The second design centered around a cross-section of a log, showcasing tree growth rings to represent time, nature, and personal development.
~ The third logo combined mountain silhouettes with a compass symbol, emphasizing direction, exploration, and resilience.
After reviewing the initial round of designs, the client selected his favorite—the version featuring the wolf. He then requested a second round, asking to see that logo in its various color schemes placed against a navy background. This was intended to simulate how the final logo would appear when printed on the navy blue shirts he planned to use.
It was a joy to offer the pack a range of visuals that celebrate their identity and mission. Whether stitched on uniforms or printed on banners, these logos are designed to inspire pride and unity.
